Ideas for school fundraising to help raise revenue

Fund raising can be tough. Having run a large number of fundraisers over the last 10 or so years for schools and kindergartens, we have learnt plenty of tricks to make things go a little bit more smoothly on the big occasion. A few extra revenue raising ideas can make a big difference to reaching your fundraising goals. Once you have decided on your theme the object is to ensure you raise sufficient funds for all your effort. Here are some additional ideas for school fundraising to maximise revenue at your race nights:

1. Entrance fee – place a minimum charge for your guests
2. Race sponsorship – encourage individuals or groups of people either before or on the night to sponsor a race in the form of a flat fee or an auction (for example the “Sally Jones Stakes” or the “Panther Club Cup”). .
3. Buy-ins – once a ‘punter’ runs out of fun money, they are able to buy some more for a fee or donation.
4. Sweepstakes – organise a sweep with a buy-in price.
5. Raffle Race – once guests buy tickets for a race, 8 are drawn at random and awarded a horse in a particular race. The winner may receive a special prize or more ‘fun money’ with which to place bets.
6. Programs – sell race night programs for a minimal fee.
7. Live and/or silent auctions
8. Raffles – held in between races.
9. Selling food and drinks.
Consider a “ Fashions on the Field” contest (make it as serious or silly as you like) and charge an entry fee.
